A Surrealist Dream

What would you get if you mixed a Willy Wonka hallway, 4 mall escalators, and all the sets of twins you could find from the 60’s? Well, Louis Vuitton’s Spring Summer 2013 Paris Fashion Show, which is a personal favorite, would certainly fit that eclectic criteria. Somehow, with all these elements, the show seemed so simple, beautiful, and mostly surreal. Marc Jacobs’ wonderfully checkered collection, was inspired by the squares rather than the LV logo, and the squares are everywhere. Although the clothing wasn’t meant to be so heavily influenced by the 60’s, the little details like the beehives and low pointed sling backs certainly made me nostalgic. I loved how the models came out in pairs, because it showcased more of the collection, yet enhanced the dreamlike atmosphere. The elaborate set, designed by Daniel Buren, a French abstract minimalist, and conceptual artist, was a perfect way to display Jacob’s collection, and truly mesmerize their audience
